400W Short Arc Mercury UV Replacement Lamp

Incure 400W Short Arc Mercury UV Replacement Lamp (Part No. 282047) is the broadband option for the F-Series™ — 400W across the full mercury arc spectrum. Where the 400W metal halide lamp concentrates output in the UVA band for adhesive cure efficiency, this lamp delivers the complete mercury line spectrum: 254 nm, 313 nm, 365 nm, and 405 nm. Choose it when your adhesive formulation was qualified against a mercury arc source, requires UVC activation, or when the process specification calls for broadband UV output. Like-for-like replacement — the spectral output, arc geometry, and wattage match exactly what the F-Series™ was characterised against with a mercury lamp.

Full Broadband Spectrum — Cures Formulations the 400W Metal Halide Cannot

The metal halide lamp concentrates output in the UVA band for adhesive cure efficiency. The short arc mercury lamp distributes output across the full UV spectrum — 254 nm, 313 nm, 365 nm, and 405 nm. Use this lamp when your adhesive formulation specifies broadband UV activation, requires UVC for surface sterilisation, or was qualified against a mercury arc spectrum. Switching to the metal halide changes the spectral input and requires full process re-qualification. This lamp does not.

No Cure Schedule Re-Qualification After Replacement

Installing the factory-specified lamp type maintains the spectral distribution, arc geometry, and output level the F-Series™ cure schedule was developed against. Any deviation in lamp type, wattage, or arc geometry changes the irradiance profile at the curing area and invalidates the existing process validation. This is the direct like-for-like replacement — swap the lamp, retain the schedule.

Arc Geometry Matched to the F-Series™ Reflector — Full Intensity at the Working Distance

The F-Series™ lamp housing is designed around a short arc point source. A larger or longer arc spreads emission across a wider zone, reducing the reflector's ability to redirect output to the curing area. This lamp maintains the arc geometry the F-Series™ reflector optics were designed for — full rated intensity at the specified working distance, not a degraded average across an oversized arc.

Rated lamp life of ~2,000 hours is under standard operating conditions. Actual life varies with duty cycle, on/off cycling frequency, and operating environment. Mercury short arc lamps lose output progressively with use — schedule replacement at the rated interval rather than waiting for total failure, as irradiance degradation begins well before the lamp stops operating. Allow a minimum warm-up period of 2–3 minutes before initiating a cure cycle to allow the arc to stabilise at full output. After shutoff, allow a minimum cool-down of 30 minutes before lamp handling. Do not touch the quartz envelope with bare hands. This lamp produces UVC radiation (254 nm) — operate only within the shielded F-Series™ lamp housing with all guards in place. Dispose of spent mercury-containing lamps in accordance with local hazardous waste regulations.
