Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Incure Pyra-Sil™ RTV silicone adhesives.
-
RTV (room-temperature vulcanising) silicone cures through moisture, heat, or a catalyst reaction at ambient conditions — no UV light source is required. Incure Pyra-Sil™ RTV grades are ideal for deep section potting, FIPG, and enclosed joints where UV light cannot reach. UV silicone cures rapidly on UV-exposed surfaces but requires shadow-cure chemistry or mechanical fixturing for hidden areas.
-
Pyra-Sil™ RTV silicones are available in one-part and two-part formulations. Two-part grades include 100:5 (Pyra-Sil™ 621), 1:1 (Pyra-Sil™ 892), and a shock-isolation grade with a 15-minute pot life (Pyra-Sil™ 875). One-part grades (Pyra-Sil™ 873, 874, 915) cure by moisture, heat, or UV/moisture dual cure with no mixing required, simplifying dispensing from cartridges, bottles, or automated systems.
-
Pyra-Sil™ 873 reaches a tack-free surface in 15 minutes and fully cures in 3 hours at room temperature. Cure can be accelerated to 15 minutes at 150°C for production environments. Its low viscosity allows it to self-level across flat and contoured surfaces for uniform sealing coverage.
-
Yes. Pyra-Sil™ 874 and 892 are specifically formulated for form-in-place gasket (FIPG) applications. They are dispensed directly onto flanges or housings, self-level to fill the sealing groove, and cure in place to form a durable, compression-ready elastomeric gasket. Pyra-Sil™ 915 also supports FIPG with UV/moisture dual cure for rapid fixation in UV-accessible areas.
-
All Pyra-Sil™ RTV silicone grades are rated from −45°C to 260°C for continuous service. This range covers automotive underhood environments, industrial heat-cycling conditions, and outdoor weathering from sub-zero climates to elevated process temperatures.
-
Yes. All Pyra-Sil™ RTV grades support high-volume automated dispensing including pneumatic cartridge dispensers, pressure-fed reservoirs, and robotic bead dispensing. Two-part grades (621, 875, 892) are compatible with static mixing nozzles and 100:5 or 1:1 volumetric dispensing equipment.
