Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Pyra-Sil™ 802 high vacuum silicone grease.
-
Incure Pyra-Sil™ 802 high vacuum silicone grease is used to lubricate O-rings, gaskets, and vacuum flanges, and to seal glass stopcocks, valves, and fittings in vacuum systems, chemical processing equipment, and laboratory apparatus. Its low vapor pressure makes it suitable for deep vacuum applications where outgassing must be minimised.
-
Incure Pyra-Sil™ 802 has a service temperature range of −45°C to 204°C (−49°F to 399°F). It maintains consistent lubrication and sealing performance across this range, including cryogenic applications and moderate-high temperature process equipment.
-
Yes. Incure Pyra-Sil™ 802 is non-toxic and chemically inert, making it suitable for laboratory glassware joints, vacuum desiccators, and analytical instrument fittings. It is translucent and odourless. For food contact or pharmaceutical applications, confirm compliance with applicable regulatory standards before use.
-
In vacuum systems, lubricants and sealants must not outgas — releasing vapour molecules raises chamber pressure and contaminates the process. Incure Pyra-Sil™ 802 is formulated with exceptionally low vapor pressure, ensuring it remains stable under high and ultra-high vacuum conditions without contributing to chamber contamination or pressure rise.
-
Yes. Incure Pyra-Sil™ 802 is compatible with standard elastomeric O-rings and gasket materials including Viton, EPDM, neoprene, and silicone rubber. It lubricates sealing surfaces to prevent compression set, tearing during assembly, and sticking at temperature extremes, extending O-ring service life in vacuum and pressure systems.
-
Apply Incure Pyra-Sil™ 802 by spreading a thin, uniform film on the sealing surface, O-ring, flange face, or valve seat using a clean finger, brush, or spatula. Excess grease should be wiped away to avoid contaminating the vacuum space. No curing or heat activation is required — the grease performs immediately upon application.
