UV Conformal Coatings — Ultra-Illumina™

Dual-cure UV conformal coatings engineered for the rigorous protection of printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies. Instant UV cure with shadow-area heat cure eliminates solvent-based processes, prevents dendrite growth and solder fatigue, and enables rapid throughput on high-speed SMT lines.

Green PCB with SMD components coated with Ultra-Illumina™ UV conformal coating for moisture protection
PCB Conformal Coating
Seals populated PCBs against moisture, dust, and contamination. Dual-cure chemistry ensures shadow areas under components are fully polymerised, leaving no unprotected zones.

BGA Corner Bonding
Reinforces BGA package corners against solder joint fatigue from thermal cycling — critical for portable and automotive electronics exposed to vibration and thermal extremes.

Display Lamination
Low-viscosity grades flow uniformly across display surfaces for optically clear lamination, eliminating the air gaps that degrade contrast and readability.

Micro-Crack Wicking & Potting
Medium-viscosity grades wick into micro-cracks and act as shallow potting compounds, sealing hairline fractures in substrates and reinforcing component joints.
  • Ultra-Illumina™ protects PCBs and electronic assemblies against moisture, condensation, fungal growth, chemical contamination, and thermal cycling. It seals component joints, BGA corners, and display lamination interfaces, preventing corrosion and electrical leakage in harsh environments.

  • Dual-cure means the coating cures both under UV light and by a secondary mechanism — typically moisture cure or heat cure. UV cures exposed areas in seconds, while the secondary mechanism cures shadow areas under components and connectors that UV light cannot directly reach. This ensures complete cure across the entire assembly.

  • Ultra-Illumina™ contains a UV-fluorescent tracer that glows visibly under UV (blacklight) inspection. This allows QC inspectors to verify coverage uniformity, detect missed areas, and confirm coating thickness — without additional dye additives or secondary inspection steps.

  • Ultra-Illumina™ adheres to FR4 PCB substrates, copper, tin, solder, common metals, and most engineering plastics. It is compatible with standard PCB materials and coats evenly over component bodies, solder joints, and connector backshells.

  • Ultra-Illumina™ UV conformal coating grades are rated from −55°C to 80°C, covering the typical service temperature range for electronics in industrial, automotive, and consumer applications.

  • Yes. Ultra-Illumina™ is compatible with manual brush application, selective coating machines, spray systems, and automated time-pressure dispensers. The on-demand UV cure profile makes it well suited to high-speed automated PCB coating lines.
